Every year, Rotaractors will participate in Samedi du Partage: a solidarity project where grocery store clients are offered to buy items for the food bank Partage. Rotaractors and their friends and family can register online to help at their desired grocery store (listed on the website).

Text

Samedi du Partage is a concrete one-day action to fight for food access. Grocery shoppers are offered a pink bag at the start of their shopping session, to be filled and paid for in donation of the Genevan food bank Partage. Rotaractors who take part in the action take on the following tasks:

  • Explain the concept of Samedi du Partage to local shoppers
  • Hand and retrieve donation bags
  • Fill and sort containers of donation in an efficient manner

Goal

Donations are entirely given to the Genevan food bank Partage, who sorts and redistribute the content to 50+ local associations while actively encouraging professional reintegration. Benefactors of Partage are associations working in the fields of women and mother shelters,  poverty, elderly housing, support against drug addiction, etc.

Reports

On the 27th of November 2021, more than 213 tons have been donated throughout the Canton, which is 6% more than the previous edition in June 2021. 90 grocery stores took part in the action by handling donations themselves or allowing the presence of volunteers such as Rotarians and Rotaractors.
