During COVID pandemic, some children lost their parents in India and are threaten by mistreatment such as child abuse and prostitution. The project raises funds to open an orphanage in order to foster adoption and give access to a better life.

Text

We are Maison Khusi, a project created by 5 students (Laura Corbiere, Arlinda Kameri, Célie Landry, Sara Yemane, Gaia Hurni) of the University of Geneva as part of the “Projets Responsables” course. The 5 objectives are:

  1. Provide a stable and secure family living environment
  2. Promote the health and well-being of children
  3. Offer an infrastructure adapted to the needs of children from 0 to 6
  4. Meet the nutritional needs of the children
  5. Find an adoptive family & encourage legal adoption

Goal

Our mission is to renovate a building in West Bengal (India) and transform it into an orphanage for young children who lost their parents during the COVID-19 pandemic. They find themselves in the streets, left to themselves, starving, victims of prostitution, pedophiles and exploitation. Our main objective is to provide them a stable and secure family living environment. To do so, we need to raise the sum of 11’583 CHF.

Finance

We organized a Christmas raffle last semester and received multiple donations, which allowed us to raise a total of 9’167 CHF and to start the renovation of the orphanage. We now need your support to be able to raise the remaining amount of 2’400 CHF!
