Women and children are among the most vulnerable in our society. Rotaract Genève International is very committed to support the local community, in particular through empowering women by providing them with an opportunity for developing new skills and personal growth.
In such challenging times caused by COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, it might not be easy for women and children to find a source of inspiration, and for us to serve in our best capacity to support them. However, sometimes simple actions can have a bigger impact on peoples' lives. That's why we decided to organize a gift donation to women and children who are staying in the association Le Foyer Arabelle.
Le Foyer Arabelle was created in 1964. The main objective of the association is to support women with ou without children in a difficult situation, mainly young and single mothers, by provided them with accomodation, nursery service for children, and helping them in searching for housing, job or training.
Goal
There are 19 women and 32 children staying at the association at the moment. The products of sef-care were chosen as gifts for women, while different gifts, including toys, puzzles, coloring books, board games etc. were chosen as gifts for children from 1 to 12 years old. All the gifts were nicely decorated and a card with warm and encouraging wishes was signed for each woman.
Finance
To implement this initiative, we raised some funds, which gave us an opportunity to buy the thoughtful gifts for women and children.
